If you want to be lean, fit and healthy you must eat fruit. There is no two ways about it. Fruit is what humans were designed to eat and the nutrients that fruit provide are perfectly suited for our bodies.

11 Ways You Can Eat More Fruit

I believe that fruit is the most important part of any athletes diet. I try to eat as much as I can. Here are some ways you can eat more fruit if you are having trouble eating enough.

1. Eat fruit for breakfast
A fruit salad is the perfect way to start the day. It is light and makes you feel amazing. I have also found that the energy lasts a lot longer than traditional breakfasts like toast and cereal despite what many people say.

2. Snack on fruit
When you are hungry try having a banana or an apple. Don’t always think about a can of Coke or some hot chips. Think fruit.

3. Add it to your protein shake
Adding fruit to your protein shake is a great way to get more vitamins after a workout as well as to help fill you up. Banana is the best but other sweet fruits like passion fruit, strawberries, etc. also go down well.

4. Add it to salads
The amount of fruit salads I have seen in Jamie Oliver’s cookbooks is great! There are so many ways to spice up your salad with a nice helping of fruit. You can add apple, sultanas, grapes, tomato, etc. Depending on the style of salad you make fruit can work really well.

5. Add it to curry
I know you probably will think this is a little weird but my mother always adds banana and cucumber to curry. You just eat it on a sideplate and when you feel a little overwhelmed by the heat of the curry you mix in a bit of fruit. It is perfect.

6. Smoothies
Whenever I am late for work or a meeting and I need to eat I grab a fruit and yoghurt smoothy from the city cafe I go to. They make it right in front of you from fresh ingredients and it tastes amazing. These type of smoothies are so popular in my town - everyone gets one for breakfast. It’s great!

7. Fresh fruit juice
When I say fruit juice I do not mean the stuff you but at the supermarket that comes in a bottle. That juice is dead juice. It has been heated to temperatures that kill all the goodness and then it has had preservative after preservative added to it so it can stay on the shelf longer.

The type of fruit juice I am talking about is the stuff where you chuck a bunch of fruits into a juicer and drink it fresh. I am convinced this is one of the healthiest things you can do for your body. Period. When you consume fruit in juice form you absorb up to 80% more of the goodness and as such provide your body with a real health hit. Try it and see how you feel.

8. Make a fruit cereal
I used to have fruit on cereal in the mornings. Now I just have a fruit cereal! I loved the fruit and what it was doing to my body so much I just added a tonne of fruit to my bowl and then added milk and honey. A delicious breakfast that gives you everything you need.

9. Go to the markets
When I shop at the markets I tend to buy more fruit because it is so cheap. I then feel obliged to eat it all as I don’t like wasting food. If you find it hard to eat fruit go to your local fruit market and have a look around. You might find a new and exotic fruit that you fall in love with which will make it easier to eat.

10. Grow your own
At my old place I had an apple tree, peach tree and a few other smaller bushes. I found I was eating a lot more fruit because it was so readily available. Growing your own is a great way to stick it in your face and make you eat some more.

11. Make pies and other recipes
Although I try to avoid cooking fruit as much as possible if you like pies and other things like that it might be a good idea to start making them out of fruit. Although it isn’t the ideal way to eat fruit it is better than nothing.

    Eating more fruit is very important as I eat lots of fruit for breakfast as during the day I eat less and less carbohydrates. Fruit is very important to stay healthy and they are get for people seeking weight loss and fitness.

    Fruit is excellent for people who train, and recently i think there has been some bad press given about fruit with regards to cutting up. Ive always included it in my diet as ive always felt good eating it. I feel healthy with it. I love dried fruit in cereal.

    yes this is all very important you should try to eat only fruits and vegetables for breaskast and lunch along with three protien shakes a day but another thing you sjhould add to your diet is niacin. first you need to find the rite dose for you but taking this before yuor workuot definatley helps
